INTELLECTUAL
PROPERTY
Our International Property Law practice covers
the traditional areas of trade marks, patents, designs and copyrights.
The
Firm receives and processes instructions, both locally and internationally,
for registration of trade marks, patents and designs, and handles litigation
for the protection and defense of the whole range of intellectual property
rights.
With
a marked increase in our intellectual property practice, a decision was
taken to establish a branch office in Abuja (given amongst other factors,
the status of the city as the seat of the trade marks and patents registry),
the new office will ensure an even faster return in our processing of
clients' instructions. But more importantly it will mean a drastic reduction
in the fees for all our intellectual property work, pre-investment
approvals, and compliance/regulatory activities.
MARITIME,
ADMIRALTY & SHIPPING
We
are actively involved in the whole range of maritime law issues including
litigation covering arrest of ships and release from arrests, sales,
mortgages, insurance and registration of ships.
OIL
& GAS, SOLID MINERALS
The Firm is involved in advising, investors
and operators in the upstream and downstream sectors and processing
approvals and licenses for various activities in the Oil and Gas industry
generally.
Well
before the recent establishment of the Ministry of Solid Minerals, our firm
had been actively involved in assisting investors in this area which
probably makes us the leading firm in solid minerals law. now that Nigeria's
vast mineral resources including gold, precious and semi precious stones are
open to foreign investment, our practice in this area should experience
exciting growth.
ANALYSIS
OF LAWS & POLICIES
Over
the years we have developed and nurtured extensive relationships with
successive governments and their agencies. These important relationships
enable us offer certain unique services to our clients such as the provision
of concise analysis of and prognosis on current and proposed legislations,
regulations, and government policies, crucial to the shaping of investments
and other corporate decisions.
